ShopCore is poised for growth. With internalized leasing, development, property management and asset management functions, ShopCore leases and manages 70+ shopping centers covering approximately 20mm+ square-feet across 19 states.

 

To support our growth, we are looking for a Director of Sustainability to join our leadership team. The Director will develop and execute strategies that capture value from the efficient use of sustainable and other forms of energy and performance improvement technology.  The successful candidate will have the ability to think strategically and translate research and insights into viable recommendations for action.  You will serve as the subject matter expert for sustainability by assessing emerging trends and communicating and educating others on relevant topics along with the ShopCore program.  You will work with Senior Leadership, Asset Managers, and Third-Party Management Companies to implement and track best practices across our portfolio.  Additionally, you will inform and influence a diverse constituency of C-suite officers, industry sustainability leaders, and operators.

What you will do:

  • Design, implement, and administer the organization’s sustainability strategy and vision including goals and metrics for development and tracking
  • Collaborate with C-suite leadership on the development and execution of the ESG vision while being responsible for building the business case and communication of progress
  • Work with and influence internal teams “buy-in” of the Company’s near-term and long-range ESG vision including the development of sustainable construction, operations and leasing standards
  • Partner with the operations team to decrease the environmental impact of the portfolio by reducing energy and water consumption and cost, and enhancing waste management practices
  • Implement a tenant sustainability program to provide best-in-class tenant sustainability services and engagement
  • Establish and maintain sustainability partnerships with peers and industry leaders including introductions to Ownership’s global ESG team, network and resources
  • Assess and ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal energy performance and carbon-related regulations.  Proactively identify risk where these require public disclosure of performance data.
  • Function as the primary contact on all sustainability related items including quarterly and annual reporting

What you should have:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • A BA or BS in Engineering, Sustainability or a complementary field to sustainability is preferred
  • Professional credentials and licenses such as LEED, CEM, WELL/Fitwel etc. preferred
  • Strong network within sustainability, environmental and other related communities required
  • Outstanding interpersonal & communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, independent and results oriented with the ability to motivate and engage direct and indirect team members and stakeholders
  • Leadership role in managing complex projects
  • Ability to balance the importance of a sustainability position within a fast-paced investment setting
